75 YEARS OF SERVICE

2010 marks a special milestone for your Credit Union- it is our 75th Anniversary! What humbly started back in 1935 with a group of employees from the People's Power Company has grown to a Credit Union with over 5,000 members and 48 million in assets. While we have grown over the years, our dedication to our members still, and will always remain our top priority. To help mark this special year, we will be celebrating each month with a 75th Anniversary special! Each month, we will have a special event, drawing or deal that you can enjoy.

March Special: For the month of March we will be doing a random drawing for ALL of our CU VISA cardholders. One lucky member will be selected to win 7,500 additional Scorecard Reward points! Scorecard Reward points are redeemable for merchandise and travel discounts.

April Special: Our official 75th Anniversary occurs in April, so to celebrate we will be hosting a special celebration at our office on Friday, April 9th. We will have refreshments and giveaways all day long. Please plan on stopping by- we would love to see you there!

JOIN US FOR THE ANNUAL MEETING

The 74th Annual Meeting of Gas & Electric Credit Union will be on Saturday, March 13th at the Quad City Botanical Center in Rock Island. A cash bar will open at 6:00 pm with the meeting starting promptly at 6:30 pm. Dinner will be served immediately after. As usual, there will be plenty of giveaways and door prizes.

TAX PREPARATION INFORMATION

In January, we sent out 1099's to all members who earned over $10 in interest and 1098's to all members who paid more than $600 in interest per mortgage loan. If you paid less than $600 in interest on a mortgage loan, you interest is still tax deductible. Simply refer to your year-end statement.

If you're expecting a refund, you can get your money quicker by having it directly deposited into your account at the Credit Union- our routing number is 271188230. Don't forget that you can also file your taxes online with our TurboTax website!

As a change to give more back to you- our members, we have changed our ATM policy. Members are now allowed up to 10 FREE ATM transactions per month (up from 5) at foreign ATMs before incurring a 75 cent fee.

Remember that transactions at our ATMs (at the Credit Union, in MidAmerican, the District of Rock Island and in Bituminous) are FREE and UNLIMITED. We are also a part of the Privileged Status Network of ATMs, so members may visit select ATMs without incurring a surcharge fee.
